So You Want To Be A children's Book Illustrator

Presented in association with Children’s Books Ireland

A live, interactive event, delivered online.

Come with questions and leave with answers!

Have you ever thought about illustrating a children’s book but don’t know where to start? This webinar is for you – it’s part of the Children’s Books Ireland #ProperBook series of practical events and workshops for new and emerging children’s writers and illustrators.

Discover how to build your illustration portfolio, the best way to submit your work to agents and publishers, how much illustrating a picturebook or illustrated children’s book pays, and everything in between. This event will provide the no-nonsense information you need to get your children’s illustration career off the ground.

Listen to Tarsila Krüse and Ashwin Chacko talk about their journeys as illustrators and show some of their work, and hear insights into the publishing world from Emma Byrne, Design Manager at The O’Brien Press.

This event is chaired by Margaret Anne Suggs, illustrator of Pigín of Howth and Holy Shocking Saints, experienced illustration lecturer and a Director of Illustrators Ireland.

Children’s Books Ireland is the national books organisation of Ireland. Through their many activities and events they aim to engage young people with books, foster a greater understanding of the importance of books for young people and act as a core resource for those with an interest in books for children in Ireland.

One of their missions is to champion every child’s right to excellent books and live literature events and support the artists who make that goal possible across the island of Ireland.

And my favourite #picturebook this year is the amazing #BeWildLittleOne by Irish author @Hopewrites and illuminated by the marvellous art of @DanielEgneus. It's a definite #IrishBooks recommendation for #BookElves2022. A perfect gift for little readers - and not-so-little ones! https://t.co/1zjERJ3FRO
